AMERICAN RED CROSS WATER BABIES SWIMMING PROGRAM

 

     A positive early water experience, combined with qualified swimming instruction, will help prepare your child for a lifetime of aquatic enjoyment.  Now is a good time to start that process.  Water Babies ranges in ages from 6 months to 3 years.  The program is intended to develop in young children a comfort level in and around the water, as well as a readiness for learning to swim.  The key to the program is its emphasis on having fun.  Enjoyment is essential to learning, especially for young children.  The emphasis is on the development of a warm and trusting relationship between parents, children, and the instructor.  This relationship serves as the basis for learning.  Water Babies requires that an adult accompany each child.  The adult can be the mother, father, babysitter, grandparent, etc.  The following is a list of some of the skills to be covered:
